Trying the deck on to see how it fits. Would you add 1 piece of 4x2mm at the transom and trim the rear off the deck to suit. Or build it out with 2 to 3 pieces to match the deck?

Regarding your deck - I think I would be inclined to trim it off at the transom. I did build one Aeronaut kit and did have an issue with some of the panels, which is a pity as they are otherwise excellent kits with very good timber and fittings.

I will soon be buy sanding sealer and paint for the bottom off the hull. This I will applying with an airbrush. Filler and grain filler and varnish for the mahogany. Been searching the internet for tips and tricks and getting more confused. The question is what brand should I buy. I would like to go water based to help with cleaning. Help please Ian

The deck went on on Sunday, really happy how things are going . I've order rustins polyurethane varnish. Read somewhere that acrylic goes milky white after a while if you put it in water. I don't want that happening. Tried the seating out today and I've ordered a piece off gray leather for £6.00 from eBay to cover it. When that comes hopefully it's easy to fit. Cross fingers we will see.

Thanks Roadrunner. I've seen your posts and it's what inspired to buy this kit as my first build. I've used some of the mods you made to the boat, hope you don't mind. Ian

Be working on the seating and surrounding area, sorry can someone tell me what you would call this, is it cabin? The seat is covered in leather. That's not easy to get it to look good . Had to go with this best I could do. Cut out white plastic sheet to fit the sides and covered with leather. These were a good fit and just clipped in. Soon be on varnish and paint

Had to wait for Santa to bring compressor and airbrush before I could spray the hull. Had to many threats of the wife " it will go back if you get it out of the box one more time" that I couldn't do it before. It didn't turn out to bad but I think I need a larger airbrush if doing anything larger. It will do for now.
At least now I can get it in the bath and test for leaks then it's the big day out

Managed to get get down to a local sailing pond near me at bury for the first sailing to day and all went well. The sound at the end of the video is not aeronaut classic but a hovercraft also on a trial run out
.
All that's needed is add the last of the fitting and its finished Ian
