She's a specialist cruise ship operated by Vantage Cruise Lines. There are a number of similar vessels, all with polar capabilities. This was only built this year.
Apparently headed for Llandudno.

I don't think I will try this one David Rolling Eyes

hi barrie,
they were off loading passengers by zodiac rigid boats, what they use as tenders .it put the wife of going on small cruise ships.  the big ships seem to use bigger boats. hope your cruise went ok where did you get to

I like Llandudno but why would a cruise liner head there? Would that be an ice breaker how then?

Swab At the moment cruise lines are desperate to find anywhere that they can take their passengers. So may destinations are off-limits, and there are a lot of cruise ships trying to find any port that will accept them. On my last cruise we ended up at Holyhead. The Ocean Explorer seems to be designed to use destinations without full port facilities, whilst the larger vessels have to have those facilities - can you imagine tendering 5000 passengers ashore 150 or so at a time  Shocked Shocked

it has spent 2 nights in belfast port, better than using zodiacs. they are keeping quiet about where it goes to next . i think it is like a trial to sort out any snags before it goes to find any ice as it was only completed this year in china.
