My 2nd scratch build was the Pride of Bilbao (114 cm) This time I used mainly balsa wood and fibgeglass as the model was now bigger and so I wanted it lighter than the Pacific Envoy. After completing 60% I put it to one side as my tremor in my right hand was getting worse I had been diagnose with Parkinson just as I was half way through building the Envoy. So the Bilbao sat in the shed for 2 years, I was then prescribe a new drug and after a couple of months I pulled out the Bilbao, and cut the stern off by 24 cm. I had decide to change her to the RMS ST HELENA which we had sailed to the Island and then back to the UK in 2003. The bow had to be completely re-modeled etc. I had only a waterline plan and the rest was from photos and video taken on board.
