A few brief words! I started model boating with my father in the late 1950's. He had already built an Aerokits Fire Tender in the mid 50's and then a Sea Scout for me.
Simple motors and weak batteries!, set the rudder and hope they came back. There was often wading needed.
The old boating ponds were very shallow and I dont remember the last time I saw one.
The boats were laid up as I got older and the Sea Scout bit the dust. The RAF Fire Tender I have now inherited and an Adamcraft FT1500 I think it is. Four winders not three like the ST206.

I am just starting to research and debating to set up for RC or sell on. I am hoping to learn lots in this forum.

Welcome! I also started building with my Father in the 1950s = the first was an Adamcraft ST206. We then built a cabin cruiser - not sure what make. These had diesel engines, not electric.

You will find a thread on here of my attempt to re-create the ST206,

Hi crowsnest,
Welcome to the site.
If you do decide to do your RC conversion I hope you do a refurbishment log here on the site.
If I can help you in anyway just give me a shout and I will do my best to help.
