Hi From New Zealand,
My Name is Harry, I live in the "Burbs" of Wellington.

I have been involved with "Static" wooden model ships for the past 14 years
Completed builds:

Sergal Mantua Cutty Sark
A/L (Artesania Latina) Bluenose II, Mare Nostrum, Pen Duick

Currently working on A/L Sanson.

You may wonder why a static ship modeller is coming to an R/C forum?
Simple answer is that I recently purchased the A/L Marina II and would like to explore the whys and wherefores of an R/C conversion.
Hoping to have a really good look at this site and get some good ideas.

On another subject, I have a 1/200 Trumpeter Bismarck  awaiting my attentions at some stage in the near future, I believe there is a R/C conversion available form Deans Marine.

Anyway, looking forward to exploring this site over the coming days/weeks to appreciate your builds, trials and tribulations.

Cheers and Regards,

Harry. (HOF)

Welcome to the forum Harry. Although we are called the RC Model Boat Forum we welcome any builds - especially with photos 2thumbsup

I have built the Marina II. I initially thought I would convert it, but when I saw the way she is constructed I changed my mind. I'm not saying it would be impossible, but it was certainly beyond my skills Rolling Eyes My build log with photos is on here. You will see that I still have to complete the rigging - I may get round to that sometime Shocked

Thinks Chap,
Good to know, I can certainly post some photos of my previous builds, not a problem.

Yup, pretty much sure I saw your Marina II build, looked really good!!
(Got the idea that you are an "All in one" Static and R/C site, no issues, happy to be a part of things. Smile )

I have had this particular subject as some thing that would be good as an R/C subject, some modification required of course....

I'll post some pictures of my previous builds in the next couple of days once I am familiar with the site.
(Alternatively, my "Handle" is [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.])

But, yes, I'll post some stuff from the "Antipodes!!"

Thanks for the welcome!!

Cheers....HOF.
