CENTRICAST CENTRIFGAL CASTER Empty
PostSubject: CENTRICAST CENTRIFGAL CASTER   CENTRICAST CENTRIFGAL CASTER EmptyWed Feb 07, 2018 2:35 pm

I  have been contemplating selling my Alec Tiranti Centricast system for certrifugal casting of white molten metal and polyester/polyurethane resins.
I used this system to develop and cast all the fittings for the model I released as Wyrelight Models in 1995 and all the subsequent models that I have built that needed casting repetition.

Sadly although it still works as well as the day I bought it, and is a brilliant system, my modelling has slowed down from the days I was building 3 models at a time, or developing, and I haven't used it for about 3 years, and so I am putting it up for sale, as the complete system....caster, melting pot, rings and plates and all plugs and bungs for making the RTV Rubber moulds.

I contacted Doug at Alec Tiranti..the font of all knowledge on the process about selling the system and value the other day and he sent me a reply this morning. it reads......

Hi Neil,
We do not deal with second hand units however due to the limited number that we manufacture there has always been a strong second hand market as they don’t appear very frequently.

Third part selling/auction sites are most often used to sell second hand machines. Based on the small description of a machine, melting pot and two sets of plates the current retail price would be in the region of £1600+VAT for a 10” option.

A reasonable estimate of the value of your system on the second hand market would be somewhere around £800-1000. Ebay and gumtree would be the best places to advertise as they have the best reach.
Thank you for sending the images of your work, very impressed. When I was young my parents did a lot of fund raising for the RNLI and with family connections to south wales we are regulars supporters of the Tenby Lifeboat.
Regards,Doug.

Subject: centricast system

Dear Doug,
I spoke to Sarah this afternoon regarding a centricast system I purchased from you in 1995. I and my wife personally came down to the shop in Reading to look at how the system worked and bought it for cash there and then.It has been a wonderful addition to my "tool box".
For my personal model boating it has worked wonders over the years and has given me many hours of pleasure replicating the fittings I needed to build my model lifeboats, pictures enclosed.
Sadly though due to arthritis in most of my joints and especially in my back I have to give up modelling through pain, and the centricast system lies idle and hasn't turned a plate in over two years.
Could you tell me whether there is a second hand market for these systems. It is complete with the centrifugal caster, melting pot with heat regulator, 4 plates  and four rings( 2 different sizes,) plus nylon plugs and screws for separation.
I live up in the north west of England just north of Blackpool so is quite a way from Reading but for expenses paid up front would be willing to travel to deliver in mainland uk.
If there is a market, what would you consider a fair price for the full kit, as no reason to keep certain parts of it.
My name is Neil Howard-Pritchard. I live at 7, FY6 7NW and my phone number is **************
all the fittings on these model lifeboats was cast on my machine
thank you. neil.

if anyone is interested in it for a price between the guidelines that doug at tiranti quoted, please get in touch with your phone number and I'll phone you back.

i'll put photos on when I find it in my workshop.

sadly the idiot took 3 months to own up and say he didn't have the money to buy it, and so this kit worth £2600.00 quid at todays prices is again up for sale at £1000.00p and i'll deliver it for the cost of return diesel fuel journey anywhere on mainland Britain...……………...Tirantis only make 20 of these a year and people tend to keep hold of them until they retire...………...they are like old Rollers...…………..just go on and on and on...……….the ann Letitia Russell, and all my builds were moulded fittings using my centricast system...……...beautiful machines.
