As a consequence of my fall launching the Seaport tug the other day I came up with this idea of a fold-up transportable on my mobility scooter ramp.
I would rather Aluminium for weight reasons but I don't have ally welding equip, so it'll probably be steel.

Have a look at the sketch and let me know any suggestions or ideas you think I should incorporate.
You're Also welcome to speak up if you dislike the idea.

On further thoughts: yeah they come harder as you age.
Ally with stainless pop rivets or brass nuts and bolts will prevent rust and keep it light, It would mount under my trailer and not interfere with carrying the models.

This pic shows what I'm trying to launch over the water level is currently below the green weed in the pic some of which I slipped on.

Damien

A couple of comments if I may.
I think it would be better for the wheels to run "inside" the rails on the bottom of the L. This would make it harder for them to come off the ramp. Similarly you need a stop at the bottom so that they don't run too far. If the boat carrier comes off the rails, or goes beyond the end of the ramp at the bottom you are in trouble - you have to recover the carrier as well as the boat.
The Knightcote club in the UK uses a ramp - see this post on Mayhem http://www.modelboatmayhem.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=10321.msg96445#msg96445

Hi Barrie, The only reason I thought of of the notched wheels was if I make it from Aluminium angle is the bolts or pop rivets holding it together will interfere with the wheels riding inside.
I will add the wheels I intend to machine will have a 20mm slot to ride on the 30mm angle, If the cost of ally is too high I'll have to use steel and weld it so the wheels can go inside I need to keep the weight as low as possible though, my trailer with boats loaded is quite heavy any extra cuts the distance I can travel before a re-charge.
The end stops are a good idea I will use thanks.

I had seen the link my scooter and trailer is a bit further down the page.
