PostSubject: Airfix Titanic   Sat Apr 14, 2012 9:05 am

Hi All,
As I have a little free time now in the evenings and my work space no longer rolls around(?!) - I have decided to take on the 1:400 Airfix Titanic.
Probably not the best choice for a complete novice - but never done things the easy way!
Also, the box looked nice and it came with paints!
So, without any extra materials and a very limited tool kits - here goes.
Will put pictures up when I can figure out how to do it!
Mark

A suggestion - if that tube of glue is the usual gloopy polystyrene cement, ditch it and buy the liquid type with a thin tube dispenser. Revell and Humbrol both do a version. Much easier to control and doesn't leave 'strings' all over the place.

thanks Barrie,

I tend just to put a spot on some scrap paper and use that rather than control the tube - as usually ends up all over my fingers!

big hands + small parts = not easy.

Have issues with the colours of some parts - instructions not clear and I am not sure that capstans would be gold - will continue following instructions and maybe next model will change things. Only addition is the runner on the cranes. Nothing in the kit about this, but looks odd without.

It's looking good so far.

One comment if I may. While it's at this stage you might like to consider using thinner 'wire' threads instead of the string supplied. It will overpower the model when completed.

Keep up the good work. cheers
