PostSubject: Hello everyone   Hello everyone EmptySun Apr 01, 2012 2:38 pm

Some of you may remember me from the old forum under the username James. I posted a tail-end build
of Dean's Pieter Boele Tug, and I'd made a small start on a Graupner Manhattan.

Sorry to hear what happened to the old forum, what a shame. Still, you appear to be making a nice new one.

Apologies for not joining a bit earlier, but I've had to stop building for a while and would have had very
little to contribute. But I've got back into it again - you know, the cursing and tearing out of hair etc. Oh and
a little building too.

Is there any chance of saving anything from the old site, or should I start a build-log again from scratch?

Big hello to Andy (Tattooed) and I love your fishing boat, that's the first model I've seen of yours - very nice, but static?

Good to be back, hope you're all well.

Thanks Footski. Still just the one model unless you include the part-built Manhattan. But here
you go -

Thanks. I thought you'd seen her on the old forum. But if you
would like me to spam photos at you, then so be it.

Very nice! I have the Wacht am Rhein which is the same ship in an earlier guise. I have often thought of building this one as well. Having seen this I may well add it to the list of future builds. They both look very different, but you can see the similarities.

Thanks very much guys.

I love that Wacht am Rhein barriew. I never noticed how nice she looks, the
photo on the Dean's site is um, not too good. This is the first time I've seen
a decent picture of her. Fantastic job, and she looks much more to scale than mine.
Looks good with all that wood!

When I've finished this ******* Manhattan, I'm very tempted to have a go at building
one and hopefully this time I wont get caught out by the pre-marked styrene.

I don't suppose you have any more pictures of her do you? Or have I missed them
on this site somewhere?

James - yes I have quite a few more, though not as good as yours. I'll sort them out and post them later. If you decide to build her I have quite a few construction photos as well. She is now rather dusty and dirty - looks as though she is a working vessel in fact without the hassle of weathering lol! lol!

Thanks very much for posting those barriew. Lovely boat with tons of character.

I particularly like the extra detailing on the skylights(?) and the boiler casing.

How did you find her to build? I had some issues finding enough space for the rudder arm
and had to use bevel gears instead.

I didn't have any particular problems that I can remember. The rudder linkage is shown in this photo.

The receiver and ESC have changed since the photo was taken.

all the best

Thanks for the photo barriew. Perhaps I just fitted my rudder too far back.

Hello Andy. Sorry to hear about the trawler woes. Perhaps some money up front next time?

Unfortunately the smoke-unit is working the same as it always was - ok, but electrical noise
limits the control-range to about 10 metres. So it doesn't get used much.

I will start a log on the Manhattan when I've got all the photos in some sort of meaningful order.
Hopefully later on this evening.

Hi james, and welcome back.......I remember your model well.........remarked how lovely she looked on the old site...........really is a beaut.

as to your question about rescuing anything from the old site............unfortunately not..the previous owner made sure of that, for one reason or another, and sadly a lot of nice builds both finished and in progress were lost..............

we are slowly getting back on our feet, and hopefully with help from guys like yourself and all the members on here who contribute regularly we will grow in strength.

neil.
