Hi,
I have had a part built kit of a Bugsier 3 tug gathering dust for years, because when it arrived the dork who sent it didnt bother to put any packing inside the box,and so parcelforce did their duty and tried to destroy it! The plastic hull was cracked and smashed, and holed.Anyway Graupner would not supply a replacement and I gave up trying to source one.I had asked many times for advice on what glues to use to repair it with no success so sold it.My pal who bought it has used ordinary car body filler, and it has worked a treat with no melting of plastic etc!
Moral of this tale? Try the obvious first!
He will soon have a nice model to play with, and will come back to model boating after a gap of some 30 years!
Mick F.

Thats a shame its a great little kit !!,

what i would have done in that situation would have been push the parts back out best i could to shape and tacked the breaks with super glue, and 'holes' i would have patched internally with some plastic card and made external patches to try to level up the surface then add some body filler, this reduces to amount of filler needed to seal the hole and also reduces to cracking that's will occur with body filler if the hull flexies at some point.

Any surface bends and cracks do you best to repair inside to seal the boat and yet again more body filler on the outside.

in situations like that i would also look at adding internal bulkheads around those points if possible to reduce the stress on the weakened parts of the hull..

not much else you can do other then just keep at it. but i'ld like to see the repair photos!

My pal is not the type who would be likely to take photos, but when I do see him again,I will ask if by any chance he took any,and if so I will post them on here.

As the model in its box was taking up valuable space in my shed needed for my lifeboat models,I decided to sell her,or practically give her away for 25 quid! This did include a geared decaperm motor.
The guy I sold her to,a keen tugman, who used to work on Falmouth tugs, has indeed rebuilt her,and she is now in working order and looking good!
I will add some photos of her when he brings her down to the pond
