For a joiner and wannabe boatbuilder its a fascinating read especially the way its been designed for the min of tools and boatbuilding experience my only issue is finding a hardstanding area thats covered and big enough and not part of her indoors garden Razz or ear ache will ensue affraid

The process of clinker building is a reasonably complex process and often (especially on short beamy boats) requires a steam box. and the timber selection is far more critical than on these simple babies however if thats your abition as you say go for it and if I come across any info I will gladly pass it on to you mate

Here you go Kenny have a gander at this ! at 1st glance looks like a simplfication of the clinker process and wood selection is easy due to materials used

Phil,

That would be three months building a boat, four months building a model tug, four months doing photography, oh and one months, looking after guests.......That makes 12 months out of her hair!!!!!

I could get in bother with that one mate.. Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes

Very informative. Thanks Phil, I've bookmarked the site.

I was fancying building the Titanic lifeboat with loads of people in it to cover the mechanism of a few rowing. I saw it done on the film "A night to remember" and was impressed by it.

I have been collating pictures of rowing mechanisms and it looks a challenge. Could be quite a novelty on the lake. Cool

regards

Ken

I forgot to add that I have the drawings of the actual rowing boats and this is why I need clinker details. No idea what size to do but must be big enough for the 'works'
