What a brilliant retirement gift.  I wish that I had got one of those when I retired from the Met 'Old Bill' 36 years ago. Swiss Cottage MBC 1f600

Hi Delta151

Would that have been a Rover V8 or the 2.8 Granada ?

Hi Fred,
That would have been the Rover V8 - I believe the model number was P8 but definitely the one before the ugly later version.  You can keep your Beemers, etc., that was the best police car the Met ever had.
Derek.

Hi Delta151

I seem to recall that my late cousin ( Surrey Police Driving Instructor) saying that a Met P8 holds the fastest run from outside of London into the centre of London I can not recall all of the details.

Can't remember either Fred but I am sure that it was possible.  London traffic was much less in those days and before all the idiotic road restrictions in the capital.  Better give up here as it looks as though we are hi-jacking the entry.
Derek.
