David here, Been model boating most of my life.
Have been involved in Sailing, i/c , model engine collecting and for the last 15 years steamboats.
I am currently seeking assistance to find out which month and year  (I beleive the 1980"s) on the front cover of Model Boats magazine which featured the BAT STEAM PLNT built by J. Hemmens,
Any help would be appreciated,

                         Regards David.

hi, david i have found this photo of a model  of bat, on bonhams auctions it says it sold for £13,800 but i think it is a miss print. it is radio controlled and the lenght is 41in x 10in x 12in. also did you no that john hemmens has is own steam boat site with all the kits he does. he has one of lady jane grp kit is £1,350 and plank on frame at £1,650. he goes under the name of model steam engines by john hemmens. email

no david, that was the correct price, £13,800.

the model was in fact not a Hemmens model but an original Keith Townsend limited edition kit with complete replica steam plant. the kits themselves sold in the very early 1980's for £2500.00p or built at the colossal sum of £20,000.00p

Here is another one that went for sale.....

    https://www.sworder.co.uk/A673-lot-94-A-precision-model-of-the-steam-launch-Bat?arr=0&auction_id=673&box_filter=0&department_id=&exclude_keyword=&export_issue=0&high_estimate=0&image_filter=0&keyword=&list_type=grid_view&lots_per_page=10&low_estimate=0&page_no=0&paper_filter=0&search_type=&sort_by=lot_number&view=lot_detail&year=

and the one above.....
