I chose Ballarat to live because of Lake Wendouree not knowing it was empty at the time, it was full when we arrived, however the Ballarat council did nothing about the water weed problem whilst it was empty.
I changed from propeller to paddle drive hoping paddles wouldn't clog up like propellers, Mowing the ex Olympic rowing course makes a mess of the down wind bank of the lake where I launch in case of malfunction it can float back.

This pic in today's paper shows the enormity of the weed problem for 90% of the lake circumference.
I wouldn't  risk launching a model that took 2 years to build into this mess.

And all the smaller ponds nearby are in worse condition.

An utter disgrace as Lake Wendouree is a Ballarat Icon.

I wouldn't worry Damien, since moving to wales i don't sail in any of the local ponds, not from a weed problem but from a yokle problem!

To be honest i only miss it when i've just finished a project to give it a maiden voyage, but once i'm on to the next i forget about it.

In some respects its nice not to do the maintenance from sailing. leaving me with a much nicer collection of boats.

At least I have a test tank to try them in.

Your not alone here Damien, I have not even put the first boat, The fast patrol launch, in a test tank yet, I know I'm new to building boats but I get loads from building boats and I hope to be back at it soon, perhaps one day I will test a boat who knows.

Here is a link to the Fast Patrol Launch for anyone not been there already.
