anyone built this boat? need a little bit of advice
caldercraft fifie help Dsc03012
built the inner frame, sanded down the grp hull edge and marked out the deck as instructed but with the deck sitting were its intended, but the inner frame does not sit flush with the hull inside(hence balsa spacers) is this down to something i have done wrong or is it how its designed? i notice the stand makes no sense neither(goes downhill despite the boat having a level keel)

started this while i suss out a problem with another project

never built this model, sorry nor have I ever seen one, but it was one undeveloped to full that John Wright inherited when he bought the company from Frank Hinchliffe.
Now, although frank was a fantastic modeller he didn't suffer fools ( the buying public as a whole)gladly and his development was at times hit and miss, expecting the Jo public to sort out the problems themselves.........after all, he would say...........!"I'm not selling airfix kits", and so some of the parts of his kits didn't fit as they should.........and this part is probably one of those parts.
Presuming the sheer line of the deck that you have marked out is correct, then you have done absolutely nothing wrong, and it's just a bodge on the part, but you will only be able to ascertain that once you have marked the sheer line on the inside of the hull for the correct line of the deck.

thanks for the response, the laser cut parts are odd in places for example with the stand looking like something for a larger vessel, the deck is supposed to sit 10mm(i think) below the top edge and is marked up as such, only real concern now is how the irregularities will effect motor and servo mounting

Fibre glass hulls can and do shift and 'sag' over time depending on how they have been stored. It looks as though the problem is in the middle of the hull as the bow and stern bulkheads appear to fit correctly. It may be possible to pull the hull into the bulkhead, especially if you apply some GENTLE heat.

hull itself seems fine, matches up well with the drawings provided with no evidence of warping or deformation, decks all match up pefectly including the "overdeck"(the detailed engraved deck that goes on the subdeck) its just this re-enforcing internal frameworks thats off

Hi Blue Danube
This kit used to have an ABS vac formed hull and I would think the wood work was cut to fit that.
I wonder if the making of the mold has changed the size of the hull slightly.
